Trump and Global Warming

Well, I mean... Trump is prolly going to poke holes in the fact that C is not the gauge that we use in the U.S. so...

But I mean really Trump is a pretty darn smart guy, he just doesn't know what he is talking about... or does he? I really can't tell tbh.

What thoughts and feelings does this video evoke in you, related to its content?

I'm eager to see it extended through 2050. (I'm planning on living to be 100.) How will this graphic data presentation conclude, at that time? :cool:

It worries me because it's a complete unknown to me. IDK if the trend of climate change is going to continue and if it does for how long. This worries me because we could have places that normally get snow in the winter get rain instead. Thinking about it this way, it's reasonable to think that places around the equator might not even be able to sustain life at all and that worries me immensely. We don't know if we take measures to combat climate change how long it will be before we see a decline in temperature or if it will even go down at all.

The Atlantic Ocean (in particular) has a circulation system which acts like a humongous conveyor belt, moving hundreds of billions of gallons per second of warm sea water at the surface away from the equator toward the poles, where it cools and sinks and flows back toward the equator deep within the ocean. It is this continuous circulation and influx of warm sea water that allows marine plants and animals to survive far away from the equator.

As polar ice continues to melt into the ocean, it negatively impacts the conveyor belt. Fresh water is less dense than salt water, so it doesn’t sink as well.

If the oceans' circulatory systems fail, marine life dies. If marine life dies, we die.

I guess the real question is whether we can actually get ourselves out of this mess or not. Time will tell. Hopefully the 1% will actually take an interest in this and start dumping resources into solving this problem.

Assuming that you're talking about the ultra-wealthy: TELL ME!

When I look at somebody who literally makes $250,000 every 24 hrs, and they cannot find any way to be satisfied, I view that greed and selfishness as some sort of disease process taking place.

The very reason why there is so much resistance toward efforts to deal with global warming is that some bottom lines will suffer. This is simply something that the greed and selfishness of the disease process will not permit.

I mean, seriously. President Obama asked the ultra-wealthy to please pay something like $1,700 more in federal income tax each year, so that he could help the Veteran's Administration deal with the problem of 33 veterans committing suicide every day. The ultra-wealthy screamed bloody murder. They called Obama a "God-dam͏ned socialist".

If an individual of extreme means can't let go of pennies on their thousand-dollars to help service members who put their mental health (not to mention their very lives) on the line to protect the country that provides their wealth in the first place, then I think it's clear that they don't give a shi͏t about dealing with global warming, either, because they would need to pay for parts of the solutions. :(

Good morning, Greg. I hope that Ted contacts me; I've been trying to get a response from him, regarding some technical issues.

What you view as a vulgarity is actually common usage in American vernacular now (similar to, "I gotta lot of shi͏t to do).

It's not a violation of the forum rules because it's not a personal attack.

I'm curious to know what you think of our President Donald J Trump's claim that many people of color come from shi͏thole countries.
