i'm coming up with 8 1/2, can somebody help? :?

several ways to do this I suggest you do it by converting each term to a improper fraction I will do it a second way.
13 5/6 - 5 1/3 or
[13-5] [5/6-1/3]
8 [5/6-2/6]
8 [ 3/6]
8 1/2 answer

13 5/6 - 5 1/3 : this is another way:

83/6 - 16/3
= 83/6 - 32/6
= 51/6
= 17/2
= 8 1/2
