I don't really understand what they are asking for in this question on my homework:

Determine whether the following equation defines y as a function of x.

2x=14-6y

any help is appreciated
 
Try to solve the equation for "y=". If you can, then you've got y as a function of x. If not, then it isn't.

When I solve for y, I get the solution y=-(x/3) + 7/3.

For y to be a function of x, would the solution need to be something more like y=7/3, for example? Or does the solution I ended up with mean that y is a function of x?
