y=600b^x passing through points (2003,309) and (2019,600)

will I have to setup a system of equations to solve for b?

EDIT: or, how in general would I find the exponential that passes through both points? would I setup a system of equations for both points (x,y) for y = a^x + b ?

Take Log of both sides to get:

log(y) = x * log(b) + log (600)

Now you can solve for log(b) and from that 'b'.

However, for the two points given you might end-up with two values of 'b'.

Thanks, that's what I thought (knew) - I was helping a student and had to make sure I did not mistakenly give an incorrect method.
