Hey! well i need help on a problem (word problem) and would greatly appreciate it if you wold help me.

Here it is.--> It takes a fassenger train 2 hours less time than it takes a freight train to make the trip from Central City to Clear Creek. The passenger train averages 96 km/h while the freight train averages 64 km/h. How far is it from Central City to Clear Creek?

Rule #1 - Name Stuff

Name what?

What does it want?

"How far is it from Central City to Clear Creek?"

Name that.

D = Distance form Central City to Clear Creek.

Is there anything else you are expected to know?

Yes, Distance = Rate * Time

Youtell me what's next.

ok passenger train and and freight train...

name the trains??

it wants how far it is fromfrom Central City to Clear Creek??

ok so next.... ummm....do i make an equation????

You can name the trains if you like.

Did you miss this, D = Distance form Central City to Clear Creek.

Part of the study of mathematics require thinking. Think.

You have a name for the DISTANCE.
You know the formula D = r*t.
You are given the rate of both trains.
You are given a relationship between the travel times.

That's a train load of information. What are you going to do with it?

ok, I got it! Thank you very much for the time you have given to help me. I hope you have a wonderful day, well night now... but who's counting? Right? Ha ok well thanks. =) :D :p 8-) :? :x        :!: :?:
