My niece is over here with a worksheet and it has been years since I have done this. I can't remember how!!!!!!!!!! She struggles with most of her classes. Recently, I have been helping her study other classes to help get her grades up. However, I dont' understand this.

Could someone help me out?

A WOMAN LIFTS A 35 kilogram child a distance of 1.5m and carries her forward for 6.5m

a) How much work does the woman do in lifting the child?

b) How much work does the child do?

Thanks...

Work=Force*distance

Force=Mass*Gravity

Gravity=9.8m/s^2

I'm a little rusty on my physics.

I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong,
so force=35*9.8~3.8 J? 3.8*8.3=31.54

Now as how to label force.

Tho you might want wait for expertise answers from the moderators.

Thanks for trying to help! I am going to try to make sense out of all this. She does have 9.8 written on the side of her paper. I asked her what it was and she couldn't tell me!!!! Oh goodness! It has been many many years for me since i have done this.

Thanks so much...she has several problems so I have to figure it out and then try to explain it....yikes...I think she needs to bring a text book home next time!
