I'm really confused on this problem

A cylindrical tank of radius 5 ft and height 10 ft is resting on the ground with its axis vertical. Compute the amount of work done in filling this tank with water pumped in from ground level. Density = 62.4

I did this same problem for a conical tank and got the correct answer, I did:

. . .S 62.4 y pi (5 - 0.5y)^2 dy

but im not sure how this one would be set up :-/...

Since the axis is vertical, I assume you mean the cylindrical tank is standing upright as opposed to lying on its side?.

In that event,

\(\displaystyle \L\\{\pi}(5)^{2}=25{\pi}\)

Water density: \(\displaystyle \L\\\frac{312}{5}\;\text{lbs/ft^{3}}\)

So, we have: \(\displaystyle \L\\1560{\pi}\int_{0}^{10}(10-x)dx\)
