Amy had 36 trading cards. She gave 1/4 of her cards to Jon and 1/6 of her cards to katy. How many cards did she have left?

P.S. When I work it out I came out with the answer of 24 cards that she have left.

Please let me know if this is correct.

Thank-you!

Hello, Bowier4!

Amy had 36 trading cards.
She gave 1/4 of her cards to Jon and 1/6 of her cards to Katy.
How many cards did she have left?

When I work it out I came out with the answer of 24 cards.\(\displaystyle \;\;\) How?
This doesn't require anything except Arithemtic.

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{4}\,\times\,36\:=\:9.\;\) She gave 9 cards to Jon.

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{6}\,\times\,36\:=\:6.\;\) She gave 6 cards to Katy.

She gave away: \(\displaystyle 9\,+\,6\:=\;15\) cards.

Therefore . . .
