Carla sold 3/4 of the pebbles on monday and she sold 2/3 of the rest of them on Tuesday. On Wednesday she had 8 pebbles left. How many she originally had?

I tried but i cant figure it out... Some help understanding the steps please would be appreciated!

Thanks

William

EXAMPLE (make it 20 pebbles left)

Carla sold 3/4 of the pebbles on Monday and she sold 2/3 of the rest of them on Tuesday.
On Wednesday she had 20 pebbles left. How many she originally had?

start 240
-3/4 : 60
-2/3 : 20

Try going backwards...

well, i was hoping to have the steps to arrive to 20 and not only the answers but thanks anyways!

William!

What did you try? What did you get? Where did you get stuck?

If she sold 2/3 at the last step, what fraction did she not sell? Since 8 is this unsold fraction, how many had she had before selling that 2/3?

If she sold 3/4 before that, what fraction did she not sell? Since your amount at the last step is this unsold fraction, how many had she had before selling that 3/4? ;)
