Please check if i answer the following questions correctly:

1)A square ceiling has a length of 18 feet. Please find the area of te ceiling. If each ceiling tile measures three square feet, how many tiles would be needed to cover the enitre celing.

Area of the ceiling

18*18=324

Area of ceiling tile:

3*3=9 ft.

324/9= 36 tiles.

2)A square office has a length of 46 yards. Please find the area of the office. If each floor tile measure one square foot, how many tiles would be needed to cover the entire office floor.

1 Yard=3 feet
3 feet =1Yard

45/3=15 feet

15*15=225 ft

Area of the floor tiles:

1*1=1

225/1= 225 tiles.

1.
your answer is correct but you would have to cut and cement tiles. why?
if a tile is 3 sqft then it is sqrt 3long by sqrt3 wide
how many tiles to make a length of tiles a minimum of 18 feet long?
no. of tiles = 18/sqrt3 rounded up
no of tiles = sqrt [18 squared /3]
no of tiles = sqrt [108] rounded up
no of tiles = 11
or we would need 11 tiles in a row and 11 rows to cover the ceiling
no of tiles = 121 and no cementing together , only cutting 11 tiles

2)
46 yds = 46x3 ft = 138 ft
square footage of ceiling = 138x138 sq.ft
tile = 1 square ft
total number of tiles = 138x138/1 = 19,044 tiles

another way each tile 1 ft long, by 1 foot wide; or we need 138 lines of 138 tiles
