Mr. B spent $ 1,600 of his savings on a TV set and 2/5 of the remainder on a refrigerator. He had 1/3 of his original amount of savings left.
1.what was Mr. B's original savings?
2. What was the cost of refrigerator?
let say x be the original savings
does the following make sense.... ?
total savings = addition of all spending + left over
x=1600+2/5(x-1600)+x/3
not sure if I have correct equation
the other thing is this if for 6th grade math in fractions chapter and they do not use "lets say x be.." they have to solve by drawing bar diagram and adding/multiplying fractions... help please....
