I have trouble putting the given information into a usable formula and need help. Word problem: A person has a collection of CDs and DVDs for a total of 54. CDs are $15 each and DVDs are $18 each for a total of $876. How many of each are in the collection? I was using X = CDs and Y = DVDs so that X+Y=54. I then put X($15) + Y($18)= $876 but don't know where to go from there. Can someone help?
