Make a system of two unknowns :

\(\displaystyle 3x = 2y\)
\(\displaystyle y = x + 9\)

By substitution : x=x

You could try a proportion.

\(\displaystyle \frac{3}{2}=\frac{x}{x-9}\)

Now, solve for x. See what you get.
