Please help with the following word problem. I want to make sure I am doing this right. Thanks in advance.
For her workout, Sarah walks north at the rate of 3 mph and returns at the rate of 4 mph. How many miles does she walk if the round trip takes 3.5 hours?
Here is what I come up with but I am not sure if it is right.
x/3 + x/4 = 3.5
4x + 3x = 42
7x = 42
x = 6
I get 6 miles.
Thanks again.
