Dear all,

I am having trouble understanding where I erred in my work to the following problem, as shown below.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

My Work: I arbitrarily choose $950 as the value spent at Saw Nuts and use this to calculate prices:

Make It: $950(0.95) = 902.5

Saw: $950 - $5(9) = 905

Nuts: $902.5(1.05) - $6(9) = 893.625

Trowel: $905(1.05) - $10(9) = 860.25

Plumb: $902.5(1.10) - $10(9) = 902.75

\(\displaystyle \Rightarrow\) Trowel has the best value. But the given correct answer is: [spoiler:a82mogfd]Nuts[/spoiler:a82mogfd].

I am a little troubled by your use of truncation. Why does 950 give only 9 vouchers? If you do 950 twice, will you get only 18 vouchers?

You are going to have to come to terms with giving out partial vouchers, at least in the way you have set it up.
