Jill took five courses this semester, each for four credit hours. She received a B (3 points) a B+ (3.5 points), an A (4 points), and a B+ (3.5 points) in four of the courses. If her GPA is 3.2, what was her grade in the fifth course?

How do you solve this problem??

How do you solve this problem??

How many credit hours did she take in total? ( five courses , each for four credit hours) = 5 * 4 = 20

If her GPA is 3.2, what is her total GP = 20 * 3.2 = 64

(She received a B (3 points) a B+ (3.5 points), an A (4 points), and a B+ (3.5 points) What is total GP for the four courses = 3*4 +3.5*4 + 4*4 + 3.5*4 = ) ????

What would be her GP in the fifth course - so that total comes to 64 = ????

And continue.....

BeautyQueen,

as an aside from the workings of the problem, I would like to know where
this problem came from, or especially if a teacher made it, because the
point system doesn't make sense. Based on this, an A- would be worth
the same as a B+ (3.5 points), as the B+ got boosted up 0.5 point
from B = 3 points.

I am telling you this, because these are typically used points
for the letter grades:

A = 4.0

A- = 3.7

B+ = 3.3

B = 3.0

B- = 2.7

C+ = 2.3

C = 2.0

And so on.

I calculate 56.

I assume you calculated:

What is total GP for the four courses = 3*4 +3.5*4 + 4*4 + 3.5*4 = ) 56

Now answer the next question:

What would be her GP in the fifth course - so that total comes to 64 = ????
