A)give its length in simplified radical form

Same question as BigGlenn: Ever hear of the Pythagorean Theorem?

If your answer is still yes, then use it.

\(\displaystyle 15^2+b^2=30^2...\)
solve for b

\(\displaystyle A)\)

Continuing with one of the options of solving:

\(\displaystyle b^2 = 30^2 - 15^2\)

\(\displaystyle b^2 = 15^2(2^2 - 1)\)

\(\displaystyle b^2 = 15^2(3)\)

\(\displaystyle b = \sqrt{15^2(3)}\)

\(\displaystyle b = 5\sqrt{3}\)

\(\displaystyle \boxed{5\sqrt{3} \ \text{ inches}}}\)
