Henry sold 120 magazines subscriptions in x+2 days. If he sold at the same rate for another week, then how many magazines did he sell in the next week?

I think I should begin solving like this.

120=(x+2)^2
120=(x+2)(x+2)
120=x^2+2x+2x+4
120=x^2+4x+4

I do not know where to go from here. Please help. Thank you

Hello, birdbook!

Is that the exact wording of the problem?
There is no specific solution.

Henry sold 120 magazines subscriptions in x+2 days.
If he sold at the same rate for another week,
then how many magazines did he sell in the next week?

I think I should begin solving like this.

120=(x+2)^2 \(\displaystyle \;\) . . . why?
He sold 120 subscriptions in \(\displaystyle x+2\) days.

His rate is: \(\displaystyle \,\frac{120}{x\,+\,2}\) subscriptions per day.

In seven days, he will sell: \(\displaystyle \,7\,\times\,\frac{120}{x\,+\,2}\) subscriptions

\(\displaystyle \;\;\;\). . . and that's it!

Let me give you a similar (and equally silly) problem.

Henry drove 300 miles . . . and I won't tell you how long he drove.

If he drives at the same speed, how far will me drive in 7 hours?

The only thing I left off was the direction said to solve each problem and solution could be a rational expression. I wrote the problem exactly how it was written. Thank you for your help.
