To supplement this, I'll mention that another possible mention, which some students are taught before they learn any algebra, is to draw pictures of ribbons, or bars, representing amounts. So you would draw equal bars for the number of each kind of egg, and then reduce the bar for duck eggs by an amount labeled as 15, and so on.It really would be good to know if this problem is from arithmetic or algebra. That is why we state this request in the forum's guidelines.

Let c = # of chickens eggs we start off with
Let d = # of ducks eggs we start off with
Try to translate the two lines below into two mathematical equations.
