word problem for medical math

I need help I am in math for medical proffesionals and here is the problem...

a heart attack patient atarts an exercise program the first day he walks 0.5 km each day he increases his distance to 500M at the end of 1 week (7 days) how far is he walking?????

I know that I have made it harder than it should be I just need the proper formula.
I need help setting up the problem

This is not a DE, but a arithmetic progression. It was kind of difficult to understand the problem statement due to lack of punctuation, but I think you mean the patient walks 500 m on the first day and adds 500 m each consecutive day for a week. How far are they walking on the 7th day?.

If so, the nth partial sum of a arithmetic progression can be given by:

\(\displaystyle \L\\S_{n}=\frac{n}{2}[(2a_{1}+(n-1)d]\)

where \(\displaystyle a_{1}\)=the first term(500), d is the common difference(500) and n=the nth term. In this case, 7.

See how that works?.

\(\displaystyle \L\\\frac{7}{2}[2(500)+(7-1)(500)]=14,000\)

He is walking 14 km on the 7th day.
