1. Suppose you are at the gas station filling your tank with gas. The function C(g) represents the cost C of filling up the gas tank with g gallons of regular gasoline. Given the equation C(g)=2.49(g)
a) What does the number 2.49 represent?
*It represents gallons of gas if the cost per gallon is $2.49
b) Find C(4).
* C(4)=2.49 Multiply 4=9.96
c) Find C(8).
* C(8)=2.49 multiply 8= 19.92
d) For the average motorist, name one value for g that would be inappropriate for this function’s purpose. Explain why you chose the number you did.
*G cannot be -4, for example. You cannot fill your tank with a negative number of gallons for gas.
e) If you were to graph C(g), what would be an appropriate domain? Range? Explain your reasoning.
* The domain should go from g to g+50. You can't have a negative number of gallons, so g must be greater.
