Without parentheses, the first one says:
square x, then multiply by 6, then subtract that from 25
and the second one says:
square x, then multiply by 3, then divide 4 by 2, and add up 4 + (3x^2) - 2
If that is what you want to say, then no parentheses are necessary (but may be used if you wish). If you want the order of operations to be different, you must use parentheses. Anything inside parentheses is evaluated first.
