I have to take these equations and place the brackets in the correct spots so that the equations are correct.
9+12/3+4/2+2 = 2
9+12/3+4/2+2 = 8
9+12/3+4/2+2 = 12

Hello. Grouping symbols are used to change the Order of Operations. There is no formula for solving your type of exercise. We experiment with different groupings in the given expression, evaluating until we obtain a desired number. That is, we try adding some numbers before divisions, or we do one division first, add something, then do the second division. Are those the sorts of things that you've tried? Please share your efforts or tell us what you find confusing. Thank you!

I notice: There are at least two variations that produce 8 and another two variations that produce 12.

I doubt there's a grouping that results in 2. (I see one that results in 3.) The exercise statement may contain a mistake.
