What does my teacher mean by this?

So I'm doing this science project ( unrelated to math ) and I have to measure a response. I needed help how I'm going to measure this, so I asked my teacher. She said on paper, " By measuring height of cakes all around circumference every 2 inches - measures will add and compare. " What does she mean by this and what do I do to the cakes? Thanks.

It might help if you explained what you're trying to do. For instance, how are heights of "cakes" related to the people's answers ("responses") that you're wanting to tabulate?
