Walk me through the steps of simplfiyng and combining like terms?

Hi guys,

I am pretty new at this and am teaching myself, so please bear with me! =)

I have been learning how to combine like terms and simplify equations. I had been going along just fine until I was presented with this problem and was asked to simplify and combine like terms. Im having a lot of trouble with it for some reason, so if someone would be so kind as to walk me through the steps I would be SOOO greatful!

15x²y - 4(-2xy² - 9xy) + 12xy² - 8xy - 9x

I'll walk you through a different but similar problem:


25m²v - 6(-2mv² - 3mv) + 4mv² - 6mv - 19m

= 25m²v + (- 6)(-2)mv² + (-6)(-3)mv + 4mv² - 6mv - 19m

= 25m²v + 12mv² + 18mv + 4mv² - 6mv - 19m

= 25m²v + 12mv² + 4mv²+ 18mv - 6mv - 19m

= 25m²v + 16mv² + 12mv - 19m

That's it......
