Don't let them confuse you. First draw a circle radius 10. That is a cross section of the sphere. Next draw a rectangle in the circle. You can see that the bottom half is the same as the top so forget it for a while by drawing a horizontal line thru the center. Now we have a two dementional half circle to work with.
draw a line from the center up to a corner of the rectangle at P(x,y)
Things you should know.
x^2 + y^2 = 10^2
The volume of the (half) cylinder is
V = pi*base*height =
pi*r^2*h =
pi*x^2*y
Substitute the x^2 from the first into the second, find dV/dy, set it = 0, solve for y.
