Volume of container

A model for a container is formed by rotating the area under the curve of y = 2 - x^2/6 between x = -1 and x =1 about the x-axis. Find the volume of the container.

My working out:

pi * Integral (2-x^2/6)^2 dx bounded by 0 to 1 then DOUBLE it...

Is this correct?

You got it. Can you do it the other way? 2*pi* {some integral stuff} dy?

Welll, your equation is even and f(-x) = f(x) so you can get away with that but why would you want to. Once you have the integral it doesn't seem more dificult to do -1 to 1 than 0 to 1.
