2 Questions:
State the relationships AND if it is linearly dependent between (throughly explain answers, show all work)
1) the points A,B,c if OA + 8OB -10(OC)= 0
2) the points A,B,C,D if OA = 8OB - 10OC +3OD
(OA,OB,... is a vector from origin)
MY ATTEMPT:
1) since you have 3 vectors (OA, OB, OC) that are added together and all have scalar multiples -it is LINEARLY DEPENDENT
The relationship would be coplanar since OA + 8OB = 10(OC) and 10 OC would be the hypotenuse of a triangle.
-My teacher says that my explanation is incorrect, I can't consider OA and OB as vectors in this form, I have to do some sort of algebraic manipulation (it looked something like 3(OA+OB) + 2(OC+OB) -NOT actual numbers, expression). He said something that proved it was not collinear....very confusing
2) linearly dependent??? I guess
It doesn't look coplanar but it is...??
thanks
