E emmaiskool242 Junior Member Joined Mar 29, 2006 Messages 66 Apr 12, 2006 #4 This is how you would solve it 4(7+y)=16-2y first you would mulitply everything out 28+4y=16-2y Then you want to get all you variables(y in this case) together. 28+4y=16-2y +2y +2Y 28+6y=16 then you want to get the variable by iteself~ 28+6y=16 -28 -28 6y=-12 Then you want to get the variable by itself~ (divide by 6) 6y/6 = -12/6 y= -2 and thats you answer Y=-2 HOPE THAT HELPED!
