If x(squared) - y(squared) = 77
and x + y = 11
What is the value of x?

So my first line of thinking was to plug in 7 and 4, but that obviously wouldn't work because those don't even come
close to 77 when subtracting one from the other(even when they are squared). So do I need to find a negative number?
Or how would I begin to figure this out?
Suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you!

(x + y) (x - y) = 77
(x + y) = 11

(11) (x - y) = 77

brain freeze...what's the next step?
add the 11 and 77 together? or.....
