Using addition and subtraction to solve and equation

1) 3+4x-1=x-7=2x

First I combined liked terms

2+4x=3x-7
+7-4x -4x+7

9/-1=-1x/-1

x=-9

2) 3x+7=x-9

3x+7=x-9
+1x-7=1x-7

2x/2=-16/2

x=-8
