The problem is supposedly a modeling w/ function problem, but seems more pre-algebraic to me, but anyways Im not quite sure if I set up this answer right. Could you please tell me if I’m right or wrong. And if I am wrong, what should I do? thanks

the problem reads:

“The sum of two positive numbers is 60. Find a function that models their product P in terms of x, one of the numbers.”

my work....

x+y=60 or P(x)=60-x

You have

x + y = 60

You are asked to represent the product of these two numbers in terms of one of the numbers,x.

Using

y = 60 - x

You can write, xy, in terms of, x.

xy =
