Can someone show me how to do this question please, with the correct answer. Thank you very much!

Q. A twin-engine plane can fly 800 mi in the same time that it takes a single-engine plane to fly 600 mi. The rate of the twin-engine plane is 50 mph faster than that of the single-engine plane. Find the rate of the twin-engine plane.

You might try using the standard "distance word problem" set-up:

. . .twin-engine:
. . . . .distance: 800
. . . . .rate: r
. . . . .time: 800/r

. . .single-engine:
. . . . .distance: 600
. . . . .rate: r - 50
. . . . .time: ??

Complete the table. Then, since the times were the same, set the "time" expressions equal to one another, and solve the resulting equation. :idea:
