I have 5 questions like this on my homework, but I think having one example would help me.

(1/(4.7(1.2)^x-4) = 3.5

I think I have to convert to (log)? But my answers do not correspond with the A-E choices

does your equation look like:

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{4.7*1.2^x \ - \ 4} \ = \ 3.5\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{4.7*1.2^{x \ - \ 4}} \ = \ 3.5\)

\(\displaystyle 4.7*1.2^{x \ - \ 4} \ = \ \frac{1}{3.5}\)

\(\displaystyle 1.2^{x \ - \ 4} \ = \ \frac{1}{4.7*3.5}\)

Now take log....

Thanks. After taking the log I got an approx. answer of -11.35926704. Which matched one of my choices.
