How do you factor this trinomial?

6y(to the second power)-8y(to the third power)+4y(to the fourth power

p.s. couldn't find how to put the powers

There appears to be a common factor of 2y^2 in each term. Use the Distributive Property to pull that out.

You can use the notation that you see in other members' posts:

. . . . .6y^2 - 8y^3 + 4y^4

Or you could use HTML to get:

. . . . .6y2 - 8y3 + 4y4

Or you could follow the links in the "Forum Help" pull-down menu at the top of every forum page for information on formatting using Karl's Notes or LaTex.

Thank you.

Eliz.
