6 trees form a straight line. The largest distance between 2 adjacent trees is 36 yards. 4 of the trees are equidistant from 2 others. Find the distance between the 1st & last tree.

The tricky bit is not knowing what distances are equal, the distance betwen the first and fourth could be the same as the distance between the fifth and sixth. Thanks.

I misread your post, Denis. I didn't realize that you were telling the student there's an issue with the wording. Please excuse me.

(I don't get 180 yards, but sometimes I misread exercises, too.)
