Can someone please help me understand how to do transformation graphs?
I need to work out the equations for 'a' and 'b'

I have been looking at this for a while now and am a bit stumped.
do i times a normal equation y=x^2 by 1/2??
any help would be appreciated :)

Certainly equation a looks as though it is \(\displaystyle z = \frac{1}{2}y = \dfrac{3}{}.\)

The asymptotes work as do the z values for x = 0 and x = 1.

Equation b is harder because clearly there is both a translation and another change. It is not hard to figure out the translation. A hint toward the other change. It must not be important when the absolute value of x is large.
