Total area of a Dodecahedron

My teacher recently gave me a project, we had to build a a geomtetic solid. I decided to do a dodecahedron. He told us that we had to find the total area of it. On the solid I have twelve pentagons he said to write the answer in terms of s. the problem is that i have no idea how to do that.

What do i do, I would really appreciate your help.

What he means, is write the equation for area in terms of sides:

area = (expression involving sides that define area)

So what i have to do is put 5s and multiply by the number of pentagons i have, i am not sure

No, 5s would be the perimeter of one of the regular pentagons, not its area.
