Hello everyone, I got an optimisation assignment to do and there is something I don't understand. I am given a steel plate baseline and I have to create a composite baseline material to optimise. However, I am being asked to use the 25 plys I got in total as the variables (5 plys at -90 degrees, 5 at -45 degrees, 5 at zero degrees, 5 at 45 degrees and 5 at 90 degrees). Each ply is 0.1 mm thick. What shall I then use as my Initial Value, Lower Bound and Upper Bound? The teacher used the values of the steel plate in stead of the ones from the composite baseline he wanted to optimised in the example, but I don't get this.
I used: Initial Value: 0.5 mm because there are 5 plys in each layer Lower Bound: 0.1 mm because that is the thickness of each ply Upper Bound: 2.5 mm because there are 25 plys in total
Thank you
