Tips for studying and remember which formula to use on tests

I need any help/tips I can get I'm taking Intermediate Algebra in a 5 week session! It's fast, but I have to get it done so I can take Stats. in Spring so I can transfer. Math is like a foreign language to me, so I need tips that mihgt make it easier to remeber things. Specifically how to remember which formula's to use for which problems if the formula is not given, and if it is how to remember how to use it? There are so many formulas and I just can't seem to get them into my brain no matter how long I study!

There is no magic trick, I'm afraid. You just need to practice, practice, practice, so you become familiar with the tools you have and how they work. This familiarity is what allows you to "know" what to use and when.
