How do you change the ratio 5:2:1 to a fraction?I know the answer is 26/5 but I do not know how they came to this answer. Please help.

ok first of all what do you know about ratios? if you know that you can turn them into the same thing only different then that would help you alot!! so the first thing you do is see what other states you could possibly put this ratio in you are supposed to know that you could possibly change this into three different things so the first one? is like this first of all, you change it into another kind of ratio, like this 5 to 2 to 1 that is one way. the next way is to have it like you just wrote it, and another way is to divide all of them together and you get...2.5 and then you just have to turn that into a fraction so you get 26/5 there you have it a compete answer to your question i hope you like and understand your new answer... :D

5:2:1

Hello, tkugabrown!

What was the original question?
As you wrote it, it makes no sense.

How do you change the ratio 5:2:1 to a fraction? . You can't
I know the answer is 26/5 .
What?
but I do not know how they came to this answer. .
I don't know either!

Add the numbers . . . and use the sum as the denominator.

So we have: .\(\displaystyle 5 + 2 + 1 \,=\,8\)

\(\displaystyle \text{Then the ratio can be written like this: }\;\frac{5}{8} : \frac{2}{8} : \frac{1}{8}\)

. . but there is no way to make one fraction out of it.
