Create a linear function that has a solution at (-2,6). Include a calculation that demonstrates why this is a solution to your function.

Linear equation will graph like a straight-line.

What is an equation for a straight-line?

math

i have to make one they didn't give me one so this is what i did so far but am not sure if this is the answer. y= 2x - 4 ...y= 2x3=6 - 4= -2 and for the 2nd one i got y= -2x5= -10 -4=6 ...linear function that has a solution at (-2,6)

Create a linear function that has a solution at (-2,6). Include a calculation that demonstrates why this is a solution to your function.

the answer is y=1x+8

x is -2
y is 6
the solution is = (-2,6)

y= 1x + 8
check: 1x -2 + 8
-2+8 = 6

y=-3x
check: -3 x -2 = 6

Equation of a straight line going through a point (x1,y1) is:

(y - y1) = m * (x - x1) .... where m is a constant (slope of the line)

Hello, Linda1987!

Create a linear function that has a solution at (-2,6).
Include a calculation that demonstrates why this is a solution to your function.

We are told that if \(\displaystyle x = \text{-}2\), then \(\displaystyle y = 6.\)

How about: .\(\displaystyle \begin{Bmatrix}y &=& x+8 \\ y &=& 2x + 10 \\ y &=& \text{-}x + 4 \end{Bmatrix}\)
