The length of a rectangle is 8 cm greater than its width. Find the dimensions of the rectangle if its area is 105 cm (squared... i dunno how to make it little and up)

i have so far x(x+8)=105 is that right but i dont know what to do from there... i dont even think i'm right...

let A = the area, W = the width, then L = W+8

LW = A
(W+8)W = 105
W^2 + 8W = 105
W^2 + 8W - 105 = 0

this puppy will factor ... use the (+) solution for the width.

Dawggone, yer correct! Have more confidence :idea:

x^2 + 8x = 105
x^2 + 8x - 105 = 0

You ok now?
