Terms: Parametric Fitting, Linear Regression

Hey Everyone

I'm working on quite a big project and I'm mainly getting confused by terms.

I really need to know i[FONT=Calibri, sans-serif]f Parametric Fitting is just another name for Linear Regression and if Non-Parametric Fitting is another name for Non-Linear regression

I realize this may be a really stupid question but I really need help.
