A pharmaceuticals company manufactures a blood pressure drug which they claim will lower blood pressure an average of 20 points over a three-week period. Dr. Z administers this drug to 36 patients for three weeks and records the following drops in their blood pressure:
22, 18, 19, 17, 24, 22, 15, 17, 21, 18, 15, 19, 24, 20, 14, 16, 19, 23, 24, 13, 18, 22, 21, 17, 24, 19, 15, 17, 21, 19, 22, 17, 19, 21, 17, 20.
Do these sample data indicate that the pharmaceutical company’s claim is incorrect at significance level of 5% ?
How do i find S by this information? I know that I can put all the numbers in my list 1 on my graphing calculator and then press Vars --> 5) statistics, but what do i do from there?
