How about solving systems of nonlinear inequalities? Can someone show a step by step solution for me to use as a guide to answer section 8.7 questions?

Sample:

{y >or= x^2
{y > x + 3

Graph the system to find the shaded area solution. Thank you.

These aren't inequalities. I imagine you changed some symbols.

But, again, all they are asking you to do is to graph two inequalities (or equations, if you copied correctly) on the same set of axes. The steps will be the steps for graphing, followed by shading in darkly the parts that are shaded (or solid lines) in both parts.

If you have trouble graphing, please show your attempt so we can see what help you need.

I made a typo. I just updated the question.

That was a big typo! Everything is different. (I recall it being two ellipses or circles, which would be a much more interesting problem.)

Step 1: Graph y >= x^2, by graphing y = x^2 (as a solid line, because of the "or equal") and lightly shading the region above it (because y has to be greater)
Step 2: Graph y > x + 3, by graphing y = x + 3 (as a broken line, because y can't be equal) and lightly shading the region above it.
Step 3: Darken parts of the solid line that are within the shaded region, and regions that are shaded twice.

The resulting graph is your answer.

Harpazo, did you make any attempt at all, before starting this thread? Where did you get stuck? You're not following the forum's guidelines, again. This site is not your personal, online classroom; this is a tutoring forum. Please see the Read Before Posting notice.
