-6 | 5... 26... -22.... 9... -15
Your move.

5 -4 2 -3 3

The quotient is 5x^3 - 4x^2 + 2x - 3 and the remainder is 3/(x + 6)

Hey Fast Eddie:

Do you know? We may not "draw" columns in posts at this web site using extra spaces only.

While your intentions are good, your example is only good for those who already have enough experience with synthetic division to be able to understand it and enough motivation to bother.

Do you know? We may "draw" stuff using the Code button to insert the tags for a fixed-width font; plus, we may see what our post will look like by using the [Preview] button before submitting.

Check it out. Click the
button, and examine the characters for the code below.

Code:
____________________________
 -6 | 5 26 -22 9 -15
   |
   | -30 24 -12 18
   |________________________
   | 5 -4 2 -3 3

I have no idea whether or not the original poster will benefit from seeing your final product in readable format, but I would like them to have a chance.

Cheers,

~ Mark :)
