Please tell us the context in which you found this equation. How are the variables defined, and what is the subject being discussed? That's much more important than mere guesses about what it could mean, or means elsewhere. The way I remember how to spell "parallel" is that it contains 2 parallel lines !I figure it out. I never saw this way of using this symbol but in electrotechnics its way how to parralel impedances.
