The questino say Suppose B is betwen A and C. Find each missing measure

1. AB=5.3, AC=6.7 BC = ?

2. AB=21 BC=4.3 AC=?

3.BC=18.9, AC=23, AB=?

How would I find these and what formula would I use to fine them?
Please help my i'm confused would i use midpoint?
thanks1

If the distance from A to B is 5.3 units, and the distance from A, past B, to C is 6.7 units, then what is the distance between B and C? (Hint: Subtract.) :wink:

Do not use the midpoint formula because B is not a midpoint.

Do not make this problem complicated. Simply draw a quick sketch of the problem – a line segment with A and C on the ends and B somewhere in the middle.

Label the various parts of the sketch with the lengths given in each problem. The answer will then be obvious. There are only three lengths to consider, AB, BC, and AC. Each problem gives us two out of three, so it’s easy to find the third.

Try the sketches and you’ll see what I mean.

Hope that helps.
