If you roll a 1-meter diameter wheel forward 30 centimeters over level ground, through what angle will the wheel turn? FIrst give the anser in radians, then change to DMS.

I tried to do this problem. I just can't figure it out. I had so much summer homework that i think i'm burnt out. that and we didn't get any books to help us. I tried to draw a picture but that got me nowhere.

The circumference of the wheel is π\displaystyle {\pi}

Therefore, use the proportion to solve for x:

π2π=310x\displaystyle \frac{\pi}{2\pi}=\frac{\frac{3}{10}}{x}

For degrees, use 360 instead of 2Pi in the denominator of the left side of the proportion.

Use the definition of measure of an angle:

S = rθ\displaystyle S \ = \ r * \theta

30 = 50θ\displaystyle 30 \ = \ 50 * \theta

This equation will give you the angle in radians
